Head south on the Tauernautobahn A 10/E 55 to Bischofshofen, exit Gasteinertal
Take the Pinzgauer Bundesstrasse (main road) B 311 via St. Johann im Pongau to Lend
Take the 167 main road to Bad Gastein

From Innsbruck to Bad Gastein in a good two hours
Take the A 93 Innsbruck–Wörgl motorway in the direction of Salzburg/Munich/Kufstein
Take exit 17 Wörgl-Ost, then follow the B 178 Lofer/Brixental/St. Johann in Tirol
Continue on the B 178, from St. Johann the B 164 Hochkönigstrasse to the Gasteiner Bundesstrasse (main road)
Take the B 167 to Bad Gastein

From Udine to Bad Gastein in just under three hours
Take the A 23/E 55 in the direction of Villach (A) to Knoten Villach (Villach motorway junction)
Take the A 10/E 55/E 66 in the direction of Salzburg to Spittal an der Drau/Lendorf
Take the B 105 in the direction of Obervellach to Mallnitz
Take the Autoschleuse Tauernbahn (car shuttle train) through the Tauerntunnel in around 12 minutes
Take the Bundesstrasse B 167 (main road) to Bad Gastein
